While working as an apprentice at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, I created a site specific installation for their Members' Night Celebration. A life-sized birdhouse became an interactive art piece for the youngest members. I carefully selected wildlife native to the NYC area. My aim was to educate children about the natural world within the urban setting they inhabit. This process started with a cardboard structure and a straw roof that mimicked a birdhouse. I then filled the panels with painted creatures that the children finished with brightly colored paint, as they would in a coloring book.
