While scavenging for materials on a beach in Florida, I spotted a crab with an astounding shell. The patterns and sheer vibrancy of the crab felt ephemeral; its richness would soon wear off as it moved from the ocean to the blistering hot sand. I often use my art as a method of preservation. I was interested in capturing the translucent, vivid colors of the crab before inevitably being bleached by the sun.
